PANJIM: Goa Doot beat Tarun Bharat by eight runs in the final of Vijay Gad memorial inter-media cricket tournament at Campal ground, on Thursday.
The tournament was organised by Sports Journalists Association of Goa. Batting first, Goa Doot put up a modest total of 55/5 in the allotted 10 overs.
Amar Pawar scored 18 runs. Tanaji Gawas contributed 16 runs. Tarun Bharat’s Rajaram Bhat and Sagar Karbotkar picked up two wickets each.
Tarun Bharat could only score 47 runs in their reply, losing six wickets in the allotted 10 overs. Rajaram Bhat scored 13 runs, while Anil Bandiwadekar made 10 runs. Goa Doot fielded very well to support a disciplined performance by their bowlers.
Jagannath Khavnekar picked up two wickets. Shubham Arolkar and Santosh Kubal took one wicket each.
Goa Cricket Association chief executive officer and former Ranji captain, Prashant Kakode was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in presence of late Vijay Gad’s son, Rajesh Gad and other dignitaries.
