MARGAO: The Goa team was declared as the overall champions of the 22nd sub-junior, junior and senior SQAY Martial Art National Championship hosted by SQAY Association Of Goa which is affiliated to SQAY Federation Of India at Manohar Parrikar indoor stadium, Navelim.
The team bagged 25 gold, 31 silver and 18 bronze medals. The second place was awarded to Delhi with 14 gold, 14 silver and 6 bronze medals while Jammu and Kashmir had to settle for third place with 17 gold, 4 silver and 17 bronze medals.
Minister of Power and Environment Nilesh Cabral, inaugurated the said championship. The Executive Director of Sports Authroity of Goa V M Prabhu Dessai gave away the prizes to the winning teams.
This Championship received huge participation from 25 different states and Union Territories having more than 1200 participants.
