Goa gear up for Santosh Trophy

MAPUSA, JUNE 24 The Goa Santosh Trophy probables will start their training from July 12, at Chowgule college ground, Margao. The 35 players will be under the watchful eyes of coach Mariano Dias and manager Lawrence Gomes. The pair has been brought back into the fold after their successful winning campaign last June.

The Goa Santosh Trophy probables will start their training from July 12, at Chowgule college ground, Margao.
The 35 players will be under the watchful eyes of coach Mariano Dias and manager Lawrence Gomes. The pair has been brought back into the fold after their successful winning campaign last June.
The players will be reduced to 20 before flying off to Kolkata for their first match on July 30. The tournament will start on July 15, but Goa alongwith last years semi-finalists will join the championship at the quarter-final group stage.
Goa are placed in Group A which also includes Services. Bengal and Tamil Nadu have been allotted Group B.
Speaking to Herald, Lawrence Gomes said, “We have a good group of hard working players and I believe we will take each game in stride and put our best foot forward.”
Goa will be without key players such as Mahesh Gawli, Climax Lawrence and Anthony Pereira who will be doing duty with the Indian National team.
