PANJIM: Host Goa suffered a humiliating 6-0 defeat in their inaugural match against Jharkhand in the All India Football Federation Junior National Girls Football Championship, organised by Goa Football Association (GFA) at Holy Trinity ground, Benaulim on Tuesday.
Sharda Kumari was the highlight of the star as she smashed in four goals including her 90+3 minute brilliant goal, while Sangita Kumari scored a brace for the visitors.
Jharkhand opened the scoring in the 11th minute through Sharda which took team Goa by surprise as the her low shot gave no chance for Goa keeper Ashika Gadekar.
Just when Goa’s Smayaa Nadia and skipper Karishma Shirvolkar were building up the play, Goa suffered a huge blow when they conceded quick two goals in the span of two minutes. In the 24th minute, Sangita doubled the lead before Sharda completed her brace against run of play in the 26th minute.
Sharda completed her hat-trick just before the break to send her team into the breather with a four-goal lead. Crossing ends, Sharda and Sangita scored a goal each to take the final tally to 6-0.
In another match at Duler Stadium, West Bengal thrashed Pondicherry 12-0.
Tulsi Hembram scored five while Sunita Sarkar and Devneta Roy scored hat-tricks. The winners led 6-0 at the break.
In another match, Mizoram came from behind to register a 2-1 win over Delhi. Delhi took the lead in the 47th minute through Anushka Samuel while Mizoram equalised in the 48th minute through Grace Lalrampari. Ruthy Lalrinmawii scored the match-winner in the 89th minute.
In another match, Orissa scored a resounding 8-2 win over Andhra Pradesh while Himachal Pradesh scored a 5-0 win over Sikkim.
