RAIA: Goa hammered Andhra Pradesh 9-0 in the 27th Senior Women’s National Football Championship Group III match at Nehru stadium Fatorda on Friday.
The highlights of the match were superb hat-tricks by Karen Estrocio, who accounted in all for five goals and was declared the player-of-the match and Sushmita who scored three.
Goa went into the attack right from the very second minute but Joyvi’s try was off the target. Immediately thereafter, AP’s Kolluru shot wide.It was in the 6th minute that Sushmita Jadhav netted the first goal with a neat placement. Four minutes later, Karen gave Goa the second goal and Sushmita added the third in the 17th minute. Karen recorded her third goal in the 22nd minute and went on to score the team’s fifth goal in the 32nd minute. Namita Govekar scored the team’s sixth at the break.
It was Karen again soon after the break scoring Goa’s seventh goal in the 49th minute, while Sushmita pumped in the eighth in the 52 minute and Karen completed the rout in the 55th minute. Pushpa missed to score in the 79th and 81st minutes.
Earlier, in the morning, Himachal Pradesh hammered Rajasthan 15-0. The highlights of the hopelessly one-sided match, were hat-tricks by Poonam (5), Manisha (3) and player-of-the match Nisha (4). The team’s coach is Vaman Rohidas Chari.
