PANJIM: Goa held Punjab to 1-1 draw at the 4th Khelo India Youth Football competition, in a close contested match at the Punjab University Football Ground on Sunday.
Goa and Punjab, right from the word go meant business, with both the sides trying to outwit each other, however it was Punjab who managed to draw first blood in the 20th minute of the first half through their striker Amit Chavan.
Goa on the other hand put their act together and immediately found the equaliser through Valpoi lad Vithoba Dharne in the 27th minute.
After that it were chances after chances missed by both unrelenting Punjab and Goa sides to finish the match 1-1. Chiragh, Francisco and Richard missed scoring chances for Goa.
Goa will play Mizoram in their 2 match of group A on June 7.
Meanwhile, Manaswi Das and Yashica Chevli bagged silver medal for Goa in Rythmic Girls Yogasna pair event at Panchkula Haryana.
They won with 126 points in Yogasna Sport competition, introduced in the KIYG 21 competition for the first time in the indigenous sports category. Maharashtra won gold with 131 points while Karnataka won the bronze with 118 points.
