PANJIM: The newly formed Karate Association of Goa under the presidentship of Joseph Rodrigues will leave for New Delhi to attend the Kai National Senior Karate Championship from January 23 to 26.
The championship organised by the Karate Association of India at the Talkatora stadium is for all the karatekas, officials and referees across India.
The Goan team comprising 11 karatekas which include Sybyl Fernandes, Nehal Mandrekar, Bencia Monteiro, Sohail Mandrekar, Jaiwant Narvekar, Ashton Rosario, Siddhesh Shetye, Manish Dhulapkar, Abdul Sattar Khan, Ravi Natekar & Rajesh Shirodkar led by coach Aslam Shaikh and manager Carmelina Monteiro along with Subhash Shirodkar, Mahendra Naik will leave Goa on January 21.
The entire cost of the team to Delhi including travel, lodging, boarding, track suits and other expenses is being met by Suraj M Caculo, joint managing director, ‘Caculo’, Goa, and the senior vice-president of the Association. The competitions would be held for Senior Kumite’s (Age 18 years +) & Senior Kata (Age 16 years +) as well as Team Kata’s Male & Female – categories.
