Goan chess players performed well to keep the medal hopes alive at the 56th National School Games at Multi Purpose Hall, Fatorda.
Results after fourth round: U-19 boys: Maharastra (8) beat Tamil Nadu (6). Karnatak (6) beat Puducherry (5) while AndhraPradesh (6) beat KVS (4).
Goan players Ameya Audi, Umang Kaisare, Adrian Almeida, Avinash Kochrekar made a clean sweep winning all their games. Goa with 5 points meet Delhi in the last round.
U-17 boys: Tamil Nadu (7) beat Karnatak (5). Goa (7) beat Delhi (5) and Maharashtra (7) beat Andhra Pradesh (4). Goan players Vipul lost while Anurag Mhamal and Niraj Saripalli won their matches while Pranav Zantye drew. Goa with 7 points meet Maharashtra in the final round on Sunday.
U-14 boys: Maharashtra (8) beat Andhra Pradesh (6). Tamil Nadu (7) beat Goa (4)
While Karnatak (6) beat KVS (4). Goan boys Shubham Sawaikar won, Kapil Pavse drew while Anirudh Bhat and Suyan Belurkar lost. Vipul lost while Anurag Mhamal and Niraj Saripalli won while Pranav Zantye drew. Goa are on 4 points.
U-19 girls: Maharashtra (6) lost to Tamil Nadu (8). Kerala (6) beat Haryana (4) and Karnataka (6) beat KVS (4). Goan girls Celine Carvalho and Nandini Saripalli won while Diksha Chauhan and Supriya Shanbag lost. Goa with 5 points meet Andhra Pradesh in the last round.
U-17 girls: Andhra Pradesh 5 lost to Tamil Nadu 7. Karnataka 7 beat Maharashtra 5. Jharkand (6) beat Vidyabharti (4). Goan girls Sayani Kerkar, Sonali Kerkar and Disha Verenkar won while Aishwarya Thorat lost.
U-14 girls: Karnataka 6 lost to Tamil Nadu (8). Goa (5) lost to Maharashtra (6) while Tripura (4) lost to Andhra Pradesh (6). Goan girls Rhea Sawant, Gauri Hadkonkar, Riddhi Zantye, Aditi Prabhugaonkar lost.
