Goa Lions, Reliance register narrow wins

PANJIM: Goa Lions registered a narrow two runs victory over Food Corporation of India (FCI) in the Goa Corporate League, organised by Goa Cricket Association at GCA ground, Porvorim, on Wednesday.
Batting first, Goa Lions scored 140 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Swapnil Asnodkar (44) and Snehal Kauthankar (43) put up an 83-run partnership for the second wicket after Sagun Kamat was run-out for a duck.
Goa lost their second wicket in the 11th over when Vibhu Tyagi caught and bowled Swapnil to break the second wicket partnership. Goa lost quick wickets before a 15 balls 24 runs fron Keenan Vaz and Darshan quickfire 10 off just four deliveries guided Goa to 140. Nihal, Pulkit and Vibhu picked two wickets each for FCI.
In reply, Goa started brightly as Saurabh Bandekar picked up the first wicket in the first over to send Chaten Sharma on a duck.
However, Onkar Gurav (44) put up a splendid display before Deepraj sent the batsman back to the pavilion. Saurabh dream spell of 4 for 22 runs helped Goa restrict FCI for 138 for 8 in 20 overs. Goa registered a two run win.
The man-of-the-match award was shared by Saurabh Bandekar and Deepraj Gaokar.
In the second match, Reliance defeated IOC by two wickets. Batting first, IOC scored 167 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs.
Arman Jaffer was the top scorer for IOC with 68 runs. Kulwant Khejroliya 2/19 was the pick of Reliance bowlers.
