PORVORIM: Goa Lions beat Indian Oil Corporation by five wickets in the Goa Corporate League organised by Goa Cricket Association, at GCA ground, Porvorim, on Tuesday.
Indian Oil won the toss and elected to bat.They put up a score of 111 for 9 in the alotted 20 overs.
Their top order batsmen Prithvi Shaw, Ankush Bains and Siddesh Lad were sent back to the pavilion quickly as the Indian Oil started poorly with just 6 runs.
Ricky Bhui and Ananta Tambekar were the joint top scorers of the innings with 20 runs.
The Goa Lion bowlers put up a stellar performance as Amogh Desai scalped 3 wickets for 18 runs while Felix Alemao picked up 2 wickets.
Darshan Misal, Suyash Prabhudessai and D Goanker grabbed a wicket each.
In reply, Goa Lions chased down the target with 2 overs to spare.
The Lions got off to a shaky start as the first five batsmen perished for a total of 14 runs.
However, Vaibhav Govekar(46) and Snehal Kauthankar(53) steered the ship home.
Despite being off to a flying start, the Indian Oil bowlers couldn’t contain their opponents as only Atit Sheth was the stand-out bowler of the innings with 3 wickets for 12 runs. Snehal Kauthankar was adjudged as the man-of-the-match.
In the second match,DY Patil beat ONGC by 2 runs
Ripal Patel was named man-of-the-match for his unbeaten 65 runs.
