Goa Police asked to play for clubs with prior permission

PANJIM:  STOP! Henceforth Goa Police personnel will not be able to participate in a tournament without a green signal from concerned authorities.
A circular issued by Superintendent of Police (Sports) Karthik Kashyap says ‘none of the police personnel’ will play in any sporting event without prior permission from theGoa Police Sports Cell or the Controlling Officer.
It was noticed that Goa Police personnel were playing against each other at the club-level tournaments causing ‘embarrassment’ to the department.
“It has been noticed that police personnel from the Goa Police or the India Reserve Battalion are playing in various sporting tournaments without permission. Sometimes they even compete against official team of Goa Police,” Kashyap said.
Karthik also said that the police personnel cannot participate where a Goa Police team is taking part.
“Basically the intention is that when our (Goa Police) team is participating in any tournament our personnel cannot participate in the same. Somebody from Goa Police can play for Goa Police only”, informed Karthik. Those violating these norms will face disciplinary action, he added.
