GOA POLICE RAID TALEIGAO

MAPUSA: Goa Police registered a thumping 6-1 win over Clube Sao Miguel De Taleigao in the GFA’s Geno First Division League, at Duler stadium here, on Tuesday.
Goa Police led 1-0 at the end of first half through Diptesh Naik but it was Taleigao colts who created better chances than their opponents.
It was Goa Police’s first win after their fifth league match.
In the very second minute, Taleigao’s Yogesh Gauns’ firm header from a corner delivered by Melino Botelho missed the target narrowly. 
Goa Police had their first attempt at goal in the 10th minute but Sezwin Fernandes’ strike was collected by Taleigao’s keeper Savio Pereira.
Diptesh Naik broke the deadlock in the 18th minute when he volleyed the ball into the net from an inch perfect cross delivered by Shelford Fernandes inside the danger box.
The goal did not deter Taleigao who almost got back in the 28th minute but were denied by the brilliance of Police keeper Niklesh who dived full stretch to keep out Melino strike from crashing into the net.
Crossing ends, Taleigao finally managed to level terms in the 54th minute through Melino Botelho who scored from a rebound which came after Police keeper Niklesh had stopped Newton Azevedo’s blistering shot to equalise.
Taleigao almost made it 2-1 minutes later but alert defending by Police’s Tusher Dessai who cleared the ball for a corner before Philip Pazvis could slot it into the net. 
Goa Police who were on the back foot took a surprise lead through skipper Milind Shinde who slammed the ball into the net from a pass delivered by Shelford Fernandes to make it 2-1.
Later Sezwin’s rasping shot rattled the crossbar and went out to the relief of the Taleigao dugout.
Police kept probing and pumped in four more goals in the final twenty minutes to register their first win in this year’s league through Diptesh Naik (69th), Milind Shinde (73rd), Shelford Fernandes (82nd) and substitute Siddesh Narvekar (89th minute) to round up the score sheet, 6-1 
Goa Police’s Shelford Fernandes for his brilliant display received the man-of-the-match award from John Fernandes- GFA’s executive member.
