The organisers have also announced a similar practise run and registration drive on November 29, starting at Miramar circle, Panjim at 6 a.m.  A special discount for Goan participants is being offered in an effort to encourage more local participation.
The National and International registrations for the sixth edition of Goa River Marathon touch over 2000 and countdown to December 13 is on. With the GRM now being an IAAF approved route for their international events, this year Goa will truly be hosting a world class event in long distance running.
Other than the usual 5km charity fun walk run, 10km and half marathon, this year will also have the full marathon of 42.2 kms.
Secretary of Vasco Sports Club Rakesh Unny informed, “We are pleasantly surprised with the national participant registration numbers, especially when so many running events are happening around  the same day at Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. This is testimony to us that GRM has only grown in its reputation and stature over the years and among the marathon community in India. It was a delight today to see so many women and first time participants. Rightly so, as GRM is the only event in the country which gives equal prize money in every category for men and women.”
