MAPUSA: The four-day State Boxing Championship 2020 will commence from March 4, at the Boxing Hall in Peddem, Mapusa.
The tournament will be organised by Goa Boxing Association.
A total of 228 boxers have registered for the championship that comprises of 51 women and 177 men participating across 5 categories such as cadet (6 girls & 20 boys), sub-junior (16 girls & 67 boys), junior (9 girls & 40 boys), youth (10 women & 13 men) and elite (10 women & 37 men) respectively.
For the first time ever, Goa Boxing Association will be introducing a computerised scoring during the championship along with officials from Maharashtra and Services present will ensure neutrality throughout the tournament.
International medalist, Nikhat Zareen will be the special guest for the final which will be held on March 7.
A prestigious tournament such as this in the state of Goa will not only help scout for potential boxers but will also be a stepping stone for all those boxers who will be considered for various National Trials, National Games and other important championships.
