PANJIM: Goa continued their fine run in the West Zone Qualifiers for the Santosh Trophy with an impressive 5-0 win over Dadra & Nagar Haveli, at Bhavnagar, Gujarat, on Friday.
Goa scored their first goal in the 14th minute and it was Shallum Pires who got his third assist in the campaign.
The Dempo defender whipped in a cross from the right where Umang was there in the right place to head past the rival keeper.
Though Goa led 1-0 at the break, they totally dominated the second session with possession play and thus created plenty chances.
Goa were awarded a penalty when Jovial Dias was brought down in the opposition box.
Suraj Hadkonkar, who took the responsibility to score, didn’t disappoint his teammate as they doubled the account.
Goa scored their third through Kunal Salgaoncar. Saiesh was the assist provider.
In the 87th minute, Goa were awarded another penalty when Kunal was fouled in the area. Suraj stepped and coolly scored his second of the day.
Goa’s defence stood tall as Dadra & Nagar Haveli side did create chances but the backline stood their guard. Jason D’Mello maintained his second clean sheet of the west zone qualifiers.
Goa scored their fifth in the dying minutes of the game through Kunal.
