Goa to host West Zone badminton

PANJIM, OCT 22
The Goa Badminton Association in collaboration with the Badminton Association of India will host the NRB West Zone Inter-State badminton championship at Indoor stadium, Campal on October 25 and 26.
Addressing a press conference, Richard D’Sousa, president, Goa Badminton Association, stated, “The championship is held every five years among the five West Zone states – Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh. A good treat awaits spectators as upcoming stars from each of these States will battle it out for the event.” Also present were Baburao Naik, vice-president, Narahar Thakur, secretary and Gaurish Dhond, treasurer.
The championship is divided into Rahim Tulla Cup for men, Chadda Cup for women, Narang Cup for boys and Shafai Qurashi Cup for girls.
Matches will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. onwards.
The event has been budgeted at Rs 6 lakh with Manda and Narayan Bandekar Charitable Trust being the major sponsors. The SAG has provided a grant of Rs 1 lakh.
