PANJIM: The much awaited, Goa Triathlon 113 will be held at the Vainguinim beach and on the Goa University road on January 13.
This event will be India’s first 113 kms distance Triathlon with an open water sea swim leg.
The event which has a time limit of 8.5 hours will begin at 7.50 a.m. and conclude before 4.30 p.m. A total of 140 elite and amateur triathletes from across India and abroad will be taking part in the race.
Swiss Ironman triathlete, Pablo Erat, five-time champion of the Goa Triathlon will be the star attraction, while Kaustubh Radkar, India’s most accomplished Ironman triathlete with 22 Ironman titles will be the race director of the event.
While the foreign triathletes are from Japan, Sweden, Australia, France, Belgium,Switzerland and Finland, the majority of the Indian triathletes are from Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru and Surat.The total prize money for the event is Rs 1,90,000.
The triathletes will first swim 1.9 kms in the Vainguinim Bay, followed by a 90km cycle ride on the Goa University road and will conclude with a 21.1 km half marathon run on the same route.
Spectators can cheer the triathletes from designated spots on the Vainguinim beach and along the Goa University road.
