ODISHA: Goa University thumped hosts KIIT University in their second league match 5 -0 to top group C and qualify for the semi-finals in football for women in the Khelo India University Games 2020 held at Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Goa University started well and many chances were created but, the strikers failed to convert their chances.
Against the run of play Ashika Gadekar, Goa University keeper saved a well taken free-kick by KIIT University’s player.
KIIT University’s goalkeeper showcased a brilliant display of goalkeeping and kept the scoreboard goalless at half-time.
Goa needed to win this match to top the group and their enthusiasm towards winning was seen on the ground.
In the second-half, Jeromina Colaco whipped in a cross which was guided into the back of the net by Alicia in the 53rd minute. From then on, striker Karishma Shirvoikar opened the floodgates for Goa University as goals kept on coming.
Karishma Shirvoikar bagged 4 goals with assists from Sushmita, Akshata, Analine and Jeronimo in the midfield to bring the tally to 5-0 at full time.
Captain Scintia and Karen were hard to get past in defence.
