ANJUNA: Goa Velha SC defeated St Anthony’s SC, Marna 2-1 in the Anjuna Gymkhana Platinum Jubilee Cup match played at Anjuna Gymkhana ground, on Thursday.
Both the teams started the match on an attacking note from the word go but missed goal scoring chances as the half-time score read 0-0.
In the second half, Goa Velha scored through Stanley Lopes in the 37th minute but the joy was short lived as in the 45th minute the Marna side were awarded a penalty after a Goa Velha defender handed the ball in the penalty area. St Anthony’s Claudio Rodrigues scored from the spot to level the score 1-1.
In the 61st minute, Chatur Naik headed the ball into the nets off a corner kick to make it 2-1 for Goa Velha.
