PANJIM: Goa defeated Chhattisgarh by 41 runs in the women category final to emerge champions at the 34th Senior National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship played at Mh Sathak College of Engineering, Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu, on Tuesday.
Batting first, Goa scored 71 runs in 8 overs. Deesha Kambli scored 41 not out,
Amisha Shetgaonkar 26 not out. In reply, Chhattisgarh scored 30 runs for 5 in 8 overs. Siddhi Chari 11/2, Santoshi Tuyekar 14/1, Deesha Kambli 7/1.
Earlier in the semi-final, Goa defeated Uttar Pradesh by 8 wickets. Batting first, Uttar Pradesh scored 40 runs for 3 in 6 overs. Santoshi Tuyekar 13/1, Deesha Kambli 4/1. In reply, Goa scored 41 runs in 4.2 overs. Deesha Kamli 31 not out and Amisha Shetgaonkar 11 not out.
Deesha Kambli was the captain of the team, who was declared the best player in the semi-final and final matches for her outstanding scores. Haresh Parsekar was the coach, whereas Nilesh Naik was chief coach of Goa teams.
