PANJIM: Goan Hoopsters men’s and women’s teams emerged winners in their respective categories at All-Goa basketball tournament organized by Sporting Club de Ponda at Talaulim, Ponda, Sunday.
In the men’s section, Goan Hoopsters defeated Margao Basketeers 53-26 in the finals. Goan Hoopsters men team secured Rs 11,000 plus a trophy while Margao Bakesteers had to be content with Rs 5,500 and trophy.
In the women’s section, Goan Hoopsters defeated Agnel’s 30-8 in the finals. Goan Hoopsters took home Rs 4,000 and a trophy while Agnel’s had to be content with Rs 2,000.
The tournament was conducted under the supervision of technical committee headed by Sandip Warlikar, Andrew Cardozo, Agnelo Dias, Clyde Lobo and Dilip Ghosh.
Adv. Narendra Savoikar, chairman Law Commission, Government of Goa was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of guest of honour Uday Dangui, Bharati Naik, Vishwanath Sawant, Umedsing Chowdary, Edwin Fernandes among others.
Umedsing Chowdary, president of Sporting Club de Ponda welcomed. Edwin Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks. Nilesh Naik compered.
