Goan riders steal the thunder at Supercross Championship

Gomes brothers impress in debut; To give Maharashtra a tough fight in second round to be held at Coimbatore

PANJIM: Goan riders Rishi and Amon Gomes stole the show at the recently held MRF Mogrip Supercross Championship in Ahmedabad, recently.
Rishi riding the latest 2015 Husqvarna FC 250, which is presently being used at the FIM World Motocross Championship, proved his mental beating a TVS factory tuned racing bike ridden by Rugved Barguje.
After a tough fight he eventually was overtaken by Rugved thus getting Rishi on the podium with a second position, in his first ever debut at a National Championship, thus becoming the first Goan to do so and win in the Junior class. 
Amon rode the latest Kawasaki 100cc but a fall in the first corner left him half-a-lap behind. He had only 3 and a half laps to catch up and managed to do so only at the last lap. 
Amon beat 2 riders to bag the third spot with a close airborne finish. With Rugved now leading the championship with 20 points, he is closely followed by Rishi with 17 points and Amon with 15 points.
It’s going to be tough fight to the finish line between Goa and Maharashtra at the 2nd round which will be held next Sunday at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
