MAPUSA/RAIA: Goan Warriors SC managed to hold FC Tuem SC in a goalless draw in the GFA’s Second Division League match played at Poriat ground, calangute, on Thursday.
Both teams played on equal footing in the first session. FC Tuem SC had the first look at the rival goal but well positioned Semson Fernandes tapped the ball out of the goal, off a cross from Wilson Fernandes.
Minutes later, two strikes by Goan Warriors SC Charnel Fernandes was saved by FC Tuem’s custodian Karol Soares. Another glorious chance by Goan Warriors SC went in vain as Kunal Virnodkar stiff grounder hit the far corner of the goal and rebounded into play with Myron Fernandes clearing the ball to safety.
Early in the second session, FC Tuem’s Charles Miranda and Roque Borges missed two open sitters.
In the last quarter of the match, Sylvester Dias, Roque Borges and Semson Fernandes strikes from close was brilliantly saved by Goan Warriors SC custodian Naveed Almeida.
At Guirim ground, FC Goa managed to hold Vagator PYSC 2-2 draw.
The teams were locked in a 1-1 draw at the breather.
Vagator PYSC colts forged ahead in the very 5th minute through Arun Naik’s strike with Franson Fernandes finding the equaliser in the 15th minute of play.
Vagator PYSC once again took the lead in the 39th minute with Danish Almeida scoring from inside the 18-yard box.
However on crossing over, Wesley Paes levelled terms from the penalty spot for Young Gaurs 2-2.
Curtorim Gymkhana moved past Our Lady of Gloria SC 3-1 in the match played at Rosary ground, Navelim. Curtorim Gymkhana opened the scoreline through Royston Fernandes in the 27th minute. Thirteen minutes later, Rahul Sharma equalised for Our Lady of Gloria SC.
After that Curtorim Gymkhana netted two more goals through Kavya Sunil Katkar and Sweden Barbosa in the 61 and 77th minute respectively.
In another match played at SAG ground, Benaulim, Deao Sports Club downed Parish Youth Nuvem 3-0.
Alison Colaco, Norman Dias and Paison Veliston Dias netted a goal each for Deao Sports Club.
