Geno FC humble YBT, Sesa FA edge past Sporting Clube

MAPUSA: Geno FC and Sesa Football Academy recorded wins in their respective encounters of GFA’s Goa Professional League matches played at Dempo Academy ground, Ella Old Goa and Sesa Academy ground, Sirsaim, respectively, on Thursday.

While Geno FC trounced Young Boys of Tonca by 4-1 margin, Sesa FA edged past Sporting Clube de Goa 2-1.

Geno FC led 1-0 at the break, with Mohammed Faheez scoring the only goal in the session. Geno FC dominated the second half and scored three more goals through Krishna Gawas, Chaitan Komarpant and Mouzzan Shaikh. Harshad Naik pulled a goal back for the losing team.

Sesa FA clinched a crucial 2-1 win over Sporting Clube de Goa. Omkar Shetgaonkar put Sesa FA in the lead in the 12th minute, courtesy of a precise cross from Shridharnath Dyaneshwar to Chaitan, who then delivered a perfect cut-back for Shetgaonkar to slot home.

The second half saw Joshua D’Silva doubled the lead in the 52nd minute, capitalising on a defensive error after applying relentless pressure on the goalkeeper. 

Sporting Clube de Goa fought back, with Lloyd Cardozo converting a cross in the 85th minute from the right flank to pull a goal back.

Despite Joshua missing a golden opportunity earlier and another chance towards the end, Sesa FA held on for a 2-1 victory. The final whistle marked a pivotal moment in the league, as Sesa FA moved to 13 points from eight games, while Sporting Clube de Goa remained on 14 points from nine matches.
