ANJUNA: Goan Warriors made short work of PVC Parra 2-0 to enter the quarter-finals of the North Goa Mc Dowells’ No 1 Yaari Premier Cup inter-village football tournament, organised by Anjuna Gymkhana at Anjuna Gymkhana ground, on Friday .
With both the teams jostling for possession and gradually cancelling each other out, there was little to highlight.
In early minutes of play, Vishnu of Goan Warriors saw his shot getting deflected over the crossbar.
Later in the first half Goan Warriors had a good chance to score when Projat Arabekar’s shot from seven yards, deflected as it hit their own player and flew over the crossbar. Crossing over, Goan Warriors came with renewed ideas and their players used the flanks to exploit the rival weak defence.
In the 43rd minute Goan Warriors were awarded a spot kick, which was coolly converted by Gaurish after Ashish effort was fisted away by the rival goalkeeper.
Warriors doubled their lead in 44th minute through Vishnu, who dribbled past Parra’s goalkeeper.
In 50th minute Parra’s Astish was all alone with only rival goalkeeper at his mercy but he failed to beat the Anjuna goalkeeper.
