Goans Chrys, Keith bag double podiums at National Racing Championship

PANJIM: Chrys D’Souza and Keith De Souza from Goa bagged double podiums in the Junior Touring Car and Formula Ford 1600 respectively in the last round of the National Racing Championship held at the Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai, recently.
Chrys got two 3rd place trophies while Keith bagged a 2nd and 3rd including the fastest lap of the race.
The Formula Ford is the premier category in the National Championship and is a feeder series to the International MRF Challenge F2000 which has drivers of the likes of Mick Schumacher and Harrison Newey competing. 
The Junior Touring car is a new upcoming category to promote rookie drivers and new generation cars with modern equipment. It was the debut race for both Chrys and 2016 National Champion Keith in these categories.
Chrys has been racing the Honda Brio which is prepared and tuned by Unimek Racing Goa. In the IJTC category Chrys had a good tough battle with experienced racer Diljith from Kerala fighting for 2nd position and finished less than 0.250 seconds behind him. 
It was a tough battle through the race with Chrys starting 5th and getting past the Champion Hisham in both the races after a tough battle. 
In the F1600 Keith started last due to a weight penalty in qualifying. In both races he took maximum advantage of the battles going on ahead, and moved up into 2nd and 3rd position in the two races respectively. 
He also managed to set the fastest lap of the race while doing so. The 2018 season will see Chrys compete in the entire Championship in the IJTC class while Keith will be Racing the F1600 in India as well as move to the Renault Clio Cup in Europe.
