PANJIM: The Goa boxing team had a mixed day, with three wins and one loss in the Elite category.In the Elite Men 75-80 kg Light Heavyweight category, Goa’s Lokesh advanced to the quarter-finals without breaking a sweat, as his opponent Riram Gojum from Arunachal Pradesh did not show up for the bout. With this win he has qualified to the quarter-finals which will be held in the upcoming days.
In the Elite Men 86-92 kg Heavyweight category, Goa’s Sai Ayush displayed his power and skill as he defeated Tamil Nadu’s Vethanph C by a unanimous decision of 5-0. Sai Ayush dominated the match from the start and landed some heavy blows on his opponent. In the Elite Women 52-54 kg Bantamweight category, Goa’s Yadav Suman put up a brave fight but lost to Rajasthan’s Khanam Arshi by a unanimous decision of 4-1. Yadav Suman showed good technique and speed, but could not secure her spot in the championship.
In the Elite Women 57-60 kg Lightweight category, Goa’s Niharika impressed everyone with her outstanding long-range boxing as she beat Assam’s Gogoi Barbi by a unanimous decision of 5-0. In the Elite Women 70-75 kg Middleweight category, Goa’s Chanu Sanamacha gave another outstanding performance as she defeated Delhi’s Singh Sansawat Shalakha by a unanimous decision of 5-0. With this win, Sanamacha will now face her opponent in the quarter-finals in the upcoming matches.
Today in the Elite Men 54-57KG Feather, Goa’s Panda Prahlad will face Tamil Nadu’s Manikandan V. In the Elite Men 92+KG Super Heavy, Goa’s Chouhan Gaurav will get in the ring against Jammu and Kashmir’s Mohad Kamaran. In the Elite Women 63-66KG Welter, Goa’s Jampula Shrisha will fight against Delhi’s Rawal Aarti.
