PANJIM: Goa’s Geetanjali Nagvekar did India proud claiming the gold in Level D 800 metres at Special Olympics World Summer Games in Berlin.
The Indian athletes have put up commendable performances in women’s section, making it to the finals of 4x400m relay and swimming. “We are pleased with the way our athletes have been responding to challenges before them at the global meet We are looking forward to some more medals from our Goan athletes,” said Victor Vaz, national Sports Director, Special Olympics Bharat.
The Goan athletes in Team India are in futsal, athletics, roller skating, basketball, judo, volleyball and handball.
Geetanjali is from Kiniyabhat in Porvorim and a student of Sanjay School, Porvorim.
