MELBOURNE, JUNE 24
Taking the field alongside the likes of former Socceroo and Portsmouth striker John Aloisi, former Socceroo and Manchester City player Simon Colosimo and former Dutch Junior International and Ajax and PSV player Gerald Sibon would be India’s very own star defender Gouramangi as Melbourne Heart FC will be going head on against Brisbane Roar in a pre-season friendly match tomorrow in Toowomba.
The match will be the first friendly the club will be playing since Gouramangi joined training with the club and it could well be the perfect chance for the Indian to prove to John van’t Schip that he is A-League material.
“I am all set and geared up for the challenge. It will be a great opportunity for me to rub shoulders with some of the best players who have done well internationally. I am looking forward to putting up a good performance so that I can prove to the coaches that I have what it takes to play in the A-League” said Gouramangi ahead of the clash.
Gouramangi went on to add, “It is very important not only for me, but for Indian football that I make the team here in Melbourne Heart. It’s great to see Indian football getting some much needed recognition, and it is my responsibility to prove to doubters that Indian footballers have what it takes to compete at a higher level.”
Gouramangi’s manager Lyndon Miranda seemed optimistic about the player’s chance to make an impression. “He is a gifted player; there is no doubt about that. I am quite certain that he will make the cut and feature in the A-League this season. Tomorrow is a crucial day for him, and I am sure he will be able to meet the expectations and please his fans, who have been awesome in their support for him for which he is very thankful. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank his club Churchill Brothers, who have been very helpful in providing us with all necessary documents promptly which have helped make this trial possible. Gouramangi is extremely grateful to the club which has played a crucial role in shaping his career,” Lyndon stated.
