PANJIM:, Quepem defeated Post Graduates Goa University, by 4 wickets in the inter-collegiate cricket championship for men organized by Goa University at University ground, on Thursday.
Electing to bat PGGU scored 110/9 in 20 overs. Saurabh Kakodkar 19, Nagesh Shetve 22, Prajul Gwade 14, Saish Naik 10, Praveen Misal 10 n.o. reached double digits. Amol Veer 3/21, Paresh Gaonkar 2/17, Sidhant Dessai 2/19 did most of the damage with their bowling efforts.
Govt. College, Quepem successfully chased the target scoring 114/6 in 18 overs, with good batting performances by Shiram Sanguekar 33, Abhinav Marathe 44, and Kishan Todulkar 13.
In the second match Don Bosco, Panjim defeated Dempo College, Altinho by 2 runs. Don Bosco won the toss and scored 126/8 in 20 overs.
Amey Naique 40, Atish Sawant 25, Akshay Chopdekar 12, Mithun Gawas 14, were the scorers for Don Bosco. Rajat Sheth 2/27, Somesh Makhani 2/21 were the chief wicket takers for Dempo.
In reply Dempo made a fighting 124 in 19.1 overs to fall short by just 2 runs. Jaipal Mada 18, Nikhil Chari 27, Rajat Shet 22, Khwaja Attar 15 put up a good batting effort for Dempo. Viraj Mhamal 2/21, Vibinav Shirodkar 3/16 and Nitish Raikar 3/27 were the pick of the bowlers for Don Bosco.
