In a notification issued by under secretary (finance) Ajit Pawaskar has said that under section 5 of the Goa Entertainment Tax Act, 1964, the Government is pleased to exempt the event of FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 from the liability of payment of entertainment tax in whole.
The State cabinet had in 2013 approved unrestricted exemption from the entertainment and ticket tax for the forthcoming U-17 FIFA World Cup to be hosted in Goa in 2017.
As per the cabinet note in 2013, the host city agreement on behalf of Goa has been signed with FIFA by Principle Secretary (Urban Development) and Stadium Agreement is signed by Executive Director of Sports Authority of Goa (SAG).
The training site agreements have also been signed over the locations such as Cuncolim, Assolna, Cansualim, Raia and Chowgule College, where the grounds are.
However, the FIFA organizers have decided that the final inspection of infrastructure and venues would be decided in September.
