Honours IM elect Anurag Mhamal, WIM Ivana Furtado
MAPUSA: The Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has informed that the government will finalize a scheme in September, which will provide subsidy on the traveling expenses incurred by the sportspersons including brand ambassadors alongwith their parent or coach participating in National and International tournaments.
Post retirement, the sportspersons will also be assured jobs and many other benefits, said Parrikar after felicitating IM elect Anurag Mhamal and WIM Ivana Furtado at a function organized by Tiswadi Taluka Chess Association (TTCA) at Menenzes Braganza hall, Panjim, Sunday.
Ivana’s grandmother Noemia Furtado received the memento on Ivana’ s behalf as she is currently taking part in Women Challenger championships in Trissur, Kerala.
Chess players Nitish Berulkar, Rohan Ahuja, Rajaryan Kuvelkar, M Barath, Anant Prabhudesai, Gauri Hadkonkar, Riddhi Zantye, Gunjal Chopdekar, Swera Braganca, Krystal Fernandes and Leon Mendonca were also felicitated.
Kishore Bandekar, Goa Chess Association’s (GCA) secretary and All India Chess Association’s joint secretary was also felicitated for his contribution to chess and Super Sports Club for being the oldest club to organize chess tournaments in Tiswadi taluka.
Vinay Tendulkar, Mahesh Candolkar, Kumarsen Kambli, Balakrishnan Poduval, Dnyaneshwar Naik, Arvind Mhamal, Geeta Joshi and Dyaneshwar Naik were among those present.
