Grassroots football development programme flourish as GFDC opens 36th centre at Colvale

PANJIM: The Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) continuing with its grassroots football development programme across State, inaugurated 36th football development centre at Colvale recently, with over 140 enthusiastic boys enrolling for the programme.

Pramod Gaus, in his welcome address, greeted and thanked GFDC for opening the centre and bringing joy to the young children through football.
Dr Rufino Monteiro, chairman, GFDC stated in April last GFDC has conducted a summer camp with around 30 to 50 trainees here and now it has gained tremendous response with 140 trainees.
Member Secretary of GFDC Aleixo da Costa was pleased to see trainees and parents in large numbers making the centre ideal to develop as a football community. 
Citing an example, he further urged the parents to look beyond the careers of doctors and engineers for their children as the professional footballers in the Indian Super League have been earning good salaries.
Kiran Kandolkar, chairman, Goa State Horticulture Corporation Ltd, thanked and applauded the efforts of GFDC under chairmanship of Dr Rufino, who in 48 months opened 36 centres providing systematic training to young boys and girls across Goa.
Among the dignitaries present were Diksha Khanolkar, ZP member, Anand Temkar, sapranch and Sanjay Diukar, headmaster.
