PANJIM: As a sequel to the initiative of Ministry of Defence, Government of India, it has been decided to organize a 5 km Mini Marathon in all the States on the eve of the Republic Day on January 24.
Goa Shipyard Limited, a Central Government Defence Public Sector Undertaking under Ministry of Defence, located at Vasco Da Gama will be conducting this event on behalf of the Ministry of Defence in Goa.
The “Run for Unity” themed mini marathon is aimed to encourage and foster unity, brotherhood and patriotic mood across the nation. The run is open to general public including youth and children.
The venue for the event is Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) stadium located on airport road, Chicalim from 6 a.m. on January 24.
The race will be flagged off by Goa’s Minister of Power and Information, Milind Naik in the presence of other dignitaries.
The event will be conducted in four different categories to include girls and boys below 16 years and above 16 years. Attractive cash awards and consolation prizes up to first 10 positions in each category will be awarded.
The registration for the event has already commenced and the forms are available at various outlets including reception centre of Goa Shipyard Limited, Teles Mega Store located on the airport road and Temptation, in Vasco.
