CURCHOREM: Guardian Angel Sports Club (U-20) defeated FC Goa (U-18) 4-1 via tie-breaker in an exhibition match organised by Guardian Angel Sports Club at Figueiredo ground, Curchorem on the occasion of Guardian Angel feast, Curchorem on Sunday.
Both the teams attacked from word go and kept the crowd on their toes. The teams struggled to take the lead but there was no score at the lemon break.
Changing ends both the teams regrouped and tried their level best to clinch the winner but could not achieve it. Finally Guardian Angel took away the winner’s trophy.
Allwyn, Sashad, Yunal Fernandes and Presco scored for Guardian Angel and Doyal Alves, Vincy Barreto and Richard Carvalho converted for FC Goa.
Meanwhile in another exhibition match Vasco Veterans defeated Guardian Angel Veterans 4-3.
In the 5th minute, Ramesh Palkar of Vasco opened the account but their joy was short-lived when Remy Baretto of Guardian Angel managed to neutralise in the 13th minute.
After the mid-break both the teams struggled to take the lead. Finally Vasco proved better shooters in the tie-breaker.
Curchorem MLA and Power Minister Nilesh Cabral was the chief guest and gave away the trophies to winners and runners-up in the presence of guest of honour local councillor Dr. Jesmine Braganza, Councillor Tony Colaco and other dignitaries
