PONDA: Guardian Angel Sports Club, Curchorem edged past a spirited Wilred Leisure, Curtorim 4-3 via the sudden-death to book their berth in the finals of 25th St Anne’s Festival inter-village football tournament organized by Ponda Footballers at Animal Husbandry ground, Curti, here, Saturday. The teams were locked goalless at full time.
The teams tried hard to break the deadlock but their strikers lacked sharpness upfront.
In the penalty shoot-out, Patrick Lima, Jovial Coutinho, Soccour Colaco and Altron Fernandes scored for Guardian Angel while Joaquim Carvalho, Nelson Fernandes and Milagres Fernandes converted for Wilred Leisure.
Guardian Angel’s Marcos D’Costa was adjudged man-of-the-match.
