CURCHOREM: Guardian Angel High School, Curchorem clinched the State sepak takraw championship, organised by Goa Sepak Takraw Association under the aegis of Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) at SAG complex, Borimoll, Quepem on Sunday.
GAHS defeated KRSS High School, Volvoi-Ponda 2-0 in the boys sub-junior category while in the girls category S.O.S. High School, Shiroda beat Guardian Angel HS 2-0.
In junior boys category, Shishu Vikas High School defeated Infant Jesus HS, Cuncolim 2-1 while Government HS, Fatorpa got the better of Guardian Angel HS 2-1 in girls category. In senior category, Infant Jesus Higher Secondary School secured the first place defeating Cuncolim Higher Secondary School 2-1.
In the girls category, Infant Jesus HSS, Cuncolim downed Cuncolim United HSS 2-1.
Earlier on August 24 the event was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister and Quepem MLA Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar. Chief guest Cuncolim MLA Clafasio Dias gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Chairman of Entertainment Society of Goa Subhash Phaldesai and Sports Authority of Goa Secretary Suraj Dessai on the concluding day.
According to organizers, around 80 teams of boys and girls participated in the sub-juniors (U-14), juniors (U-17) and senior category (17 and above).
