RAIA: Guardian Angel SC defeated Ugem Rising Club 4-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the 48th Chandor Seamen tournament organised by Chandor Club, at Chandor ground, on Tuesday.
The opener in the 20th minute for Guardian Angel came from Jaison Dias. The joy of Sanvordem lads was short-lived as Shivaji was on target, hoodwinking the Guardian Angel custodian. Both the teams were held to 1-1 draw.
The second half saw Sanvordem lads come into the field with renewed vigour. Their efforts to take the upper hand bore fruit through a power-packed shot from Shallum Pires in the 55th minute.
From then on, there was no looking back, as two goals within a gap of two minutes came from Mittun Fernandes and Godwin Fernandes in the 57th and 59th minutes to give Sanvordem boys unassailable lead to move into quarters.
