Guardian Angel High School, Curchorem beat Immaculate Conception High School, Avedem, Paroda 6-4 via the tie-breaker to emerge champions in Quepem Taluka Under-14 Subroto Mukherjee inter-school football at Tilamol Panchayat ground, Quepem on Friday. The teams were tied 1-1 at full time.
Guardian Angel were the first to settle down when Sweeton Pereira unleashed a left footer from the left which crashed into the net giving no chance to the rival goalkeeper.
Immaculate Conception put up a better display in the second session. Their persistent raids paid dividends when Jolatan Dias found success with a snap shot.
In the tie-breaker, Desvi Fernandes, Sanil D’Costa, Mukhtair Pathan,Wilfred Fernandes and Alton Fernandes were on target for the winners while Harshad Dessai, Richard Fernandes and Aroon Noronha netted for Immaculate Conception.
John Fernandes, APEO, Quepem Taluka was the chief guest and distributed the certificates. Earlier, Raymond Pereira, Taluka Sports Organizer, Quepem Taluka welcomed and later proposed the vote of thanks.
