RAIA: Guardian Angel SC moved past Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda, 9-8 via tie-breaker to enter the semi-finals of 1st All Goa Guardians Angel Festival Soccer inter-village football tournament, at Curchorem ground, on Monday.
Fr Agnelo YSC netted the first goal of the match through Shelton Fernandes in the 10th minute. Immediately, Fr Agnelo YSC further inflated the lead through Shine Clemente in the 20th minute. Guardian Angel SC netted two back to back goals through Clifford Diniz and Maximo D’Costa in the 45th and 50th minute respectively.
At the end of regulation time, both teams settled for 2-2 draw.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Guardian Angel SC scored through Fredrick Fernandes, Maximo D’Costa, Godwin D’Costa, Ivo Costa, Norman Dias, Clifford Diniz and Rasal Fernandes. For
Fr Agnelo YSC Anthony Dias, Celvic Fernandes, Evon Clemente, Rohan Gaonkar, Selwin Fernandes and Shelton Fernandes were on target.
Clifford Diniz received the man-of-the-match trophy from chief guest Dr Satish Kudchadkar.
On Sunday, Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, booked semi-finals berth defeating St Anthony Club, Assolda, 6-5 via tie-breaker.
The match started on a fast pace and both teams tried to break the deadlock. In the first attempt, St Anthony Club’s Valentine Carvalho missed to tap the ball in the open goal. On the other hand, Hanshlum Furtado’s header hit the crossbar and went away.
At half time both teams failed to open an account.
In second half, both teams went all out to score and tried long ranger shoots.
In 37th minute, Hanshlum Furtado scored for Don Bosco Oratory while St Anthony Club scored two quick goals in 40th and 43rd minute with the efforts of Caziton Fernandes and Valentino Carvalho. Milson Barreto of Don Bosco Oratory scored an equaliser in 60th minute to make 2-2, to move the match into tie-breaker.
For Don Bosco Oratory, Michael Dias, Milson Barreto, Hanshlum Furtado and Joel Camara found the net, while for St Anthony Club Rizbon, Succor and Joaquim were on target.
Caziton Fernandes of St Anthony Club was declared the man-of-the-match.
