MAPUSA: Guardian Angel Sports Club played gallantly to register a 3-0 win over Bidesh XI Sports Club in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Friday.
Guardian Angel SC after having won their last match against Churchill Brothers were a reinforced unit and dominated most part of the match and went into the breather with a goal cushion.
At the other end, new entrants Bidesh XI who lost their earlier match to Clube de Salgaocar did shine in patches but strikers Clencio Pinto and Omkar Shetgaonkar were given very little space by stopper backs Nitesh Hazra and Suman Lepcha to have a clear shot at the goal.
After almost 25 minutes, Guardian Angel SC came with repeated attacks on the rival citadel but twice Moirangthem Malemnganba failed to score, while Napoleon Morangthem shot from close was blocked by Bidesh XI defender Ronit Gaunkar.
However, finally, in the 41st minute Guardian Angel SC’s Moirangthem was at the right place to connect his volley into the goal off a corner, 1-0.
Hardly had the spectators taken their seats after the breather, Guardian Angel SC’s doubled their lead when Napoleon strike came off the horizontal bar to U-21 Preston Castano who drove the ball into the back of the nylons, 2-0.
As the match progressed, Napoleon missed two open sitters. In the 67th minute, Guardian Angel SC netted their third goal where substitute Moses D’Sa first touch materialised into a goal off a corner, 3-0.
In the very next minute, Guardian Angel SC’s Velroy Carvalho was sent off for bringing a harsh tackle on Bidesh XI player and received his second caution.
