RAIA: Sao Jose de Areal clinched the 44th Gold Silver Rolling Trophy football tournament defeating hosts Navelim Sporting Club 8-6 via tie-breaker in the final played at Rosary Church ground, Navelim, on Thursday.
The final was witnessed by large crowd and both teams showed determination and skill to remain 3-3 draw at full time.
Travis Souza scored a brace and Noah Luis scored the third goal for Navelim SC, while Dyral Costa scored a brace and Joston fernandes scored the other goal.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Sao Jose de Areal prove to be the better shooters.
Chief guest former chief minister Luizinho Faleiro gave away the prizes in the distinguished presence of Navelim MLA and Kadamba Transport Corporation Chairman Ulhas Tuenkar, Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim, Parish Priest Fr Gabriel Coutinho; former Navelim MLA Avertano Furtado, Zilla Parishad member Edwin (Cipru) Cardozo, Navelim Sarpanch Paul Pereira, deputy sarpanch and panch members, Goa Football Association Executive Committee (South), Senior Vice-President Anthony Pango, Cosme Oliver, Andrew Ferrao, Subert Furtado, Constancio Rodrigues, Anthony Fernandes, Ravi Cabral and other dignitaries and club officials.
