MAPUSA: Sesa Football Academy fought gallantly to come from two goals down to hold Guardian Angel to a 2-2 draw in the Goa Professional League played at Duler stadium, here, on Friday.
Guardian Angel with 5 points and Sesa FA with 3 points saw both the teams who are fighting for relegation take the field all focused to return home with a win.
After minute of midfield tussle, Leny Fernandes saw his teasing cross from the right flank take a deflection of Sesa’s defender Minesh Kunkolkar on the way to his own goal but keeper Sapam Nongpoknganba Singh flung to his left and paired the ball which travelled to Joel Barretto who scored with a thundering volley to give Angels the lead.
A stiff grounder by Basanta Singh was blocked by keeper Sapam at the first post to find Beneston Barretto stab the ball into the back of the nylon to make it 2-0 for Guardian.
In the 52nd minute, Benzu Clemente handled the ball off Stephen’s cross, where referee David Rebello pointed to the dreaded spot. Cajetan Fernandes scored to make it 2-1for Sesa.
It did not take much time for Sesa to level terms when in the 55th minute Leny Fernandes was caught in the act of pushing Faheez Mohammed just outside the penalty box off Cajetan long ball.
The referee awarded a direct free-kick where Cajetan Fernandes excellently curled the ball past the Angels defensive wall
into the goal, to send his teammates and supporters into ruptures.
