MAPUSA: Guardian Angel SC finally tasted their first win of the Goa Professional League by registering a solitary goal win over Sesa Football Academy, at Duler Stadium, here, on Monday.
The highlight of today’s match was sending off both the teams’ coaches, Charles Dias of Sesa FA and Riston Rodrigues of Guardian Angel for indecent by Referee Ritesh Parsekar after consulting fourth official Siddharth Parwar.
Guardian Angel colts, who are languishing at the bottom of the league table, came strongly into today’s match and went into the breather with a one goal cushion through their foreign signing Ghana Frank Adusei in the 12th minute which finally proved to be the match winning goal.
With today’s win Guardian Angel finally opened their account and has 3 points from 9 matches while Sesa FA stays on 11 points from 8 matches.
Angel’s would have forged ahead in the very 7th minute of play, but a fierce strike by Frank Adusei hit Sesa’s defender leg for a corner.
However in the 12th minute, this time Frank Adusei was lucky as he collected a pass from Gilbert Oliveira darted inside the penalty box and slotted the ball past Sesa’s custodian Roanal Gaunkar 1-0.
In the 27th minute a strong header by Peter Carvalho sneaked just past the Sesa’s goal post off a corner.
Ten minutes later once again Frank Adusei darted inside the 18-yard box but saw Sesa’s defender Myran Pereira bring a brilliant sliding clearance for a corner.
Sesa had just one good attempt at the rival goal but U20 Aryan Salunke strike at the goal was blocked by Angel’s Fedrich Fernandes.
Three minutes into the second session and Angel’s should have doubled their lead but substitute Brivon Dias having just the Sesa’s keeper to beat saw his placement rebound off the goal post to the disbelief of his teammates.
In the 56th minute Sesa’s Omkar Shetgaonkar saw his stinging free kick hit the side netting.
Angel’s were twice unlucky not to further increase their lead.
A firm header by Frank Adusei rebounded off the crossbar and travelled to unmarked Prathmesh Damodkar whose diving header was saved by Sesa’s keeper Roanal.
Just two minutes later a stiff grounder by Frank at the first post was blocked by Sesa’s defender Daniel Gomes for a corner.
In the 75th minute Sesa’s Thokchom Singh was thwarted by Angel’s keeper Oswin Rodrigues, where a strong
appeal by Sesa’s players and team officials were turned down by referee Ritesh Parsekar. For indecent Sesa’s coach Charles Dias received marching orders.
In the seven minutes of added time Sesa lads, time and again, attacked the rival citadel but Angel’s last line of defense marshaled by Mohammed Mahama and the keeper maintained their one goal lead till the final hooter.
Angel’s coach Riston Rodrigues too was sent off by the referee for indecent in the added time.
