CURCHOREM: In an exciting and fast paced football match Guardian Angel Higher Secondary School, Curchorem, defeated Government Higher Secondary School, Canacona, 1-0, and claimed the championship title of Zone IV U-19 inter-higher secondary football girls tournament, organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at SAG ground, Borimoll, Quepem, on Monday.
The teams attacked from the word go and kept the crowd on their toes. Both teams were struggling very hard to take the lead but there was no score at the lemon break. Changing ends, both the teams continued to mount pressure on each other and the fag end of the match, Joycee Oliveira’s lone goal helped Guardian Angel to clinch the title.
Earlier in the semi-finals Guardian Angel defeated S S Angle Higher Secondary School, Mashem-Canacona, 1-0, and Government HSS, Canacona, defeated Damodar Higher Secondary School, Gudi-Paroda, 2-0.
