Guardian Angel, UC Telaulim, Curtorim Gym, Signals win

MARGAO: Guardian Angel Sports Club, Curchorem overcame Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao 1-0 in a ninth round of GFA’s First Division league, at SAG ground, Assolna, on Sunday.

The all-important goal came in the first half through Slegan Gracias.
The teams displayed attacking brand of soccer and kept the crowds on their toes. However, it was Taleigao who had a golden chance to surge ahead but striker Rohan Viegas shot wide much to the dismay of the Taleigao supporters.
The lone goal of the match came in the 18th minute when Roy Rodrigues floated the ball inside the rival penalty box and winger Slegan Gracias nodded home giving no chance to the Taleigao goalkeeper.
Spurred by the lead, Guardian Angel SC intensified their attacks and troubled their rivals with sporadic raids but Jaison Dias was the culprit as he wasted the easiest chances with only the rival goalkeeper to beat and shot wide from hand-shaking distance.
Crossing over, Guardian Angel continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges but their forwards misfired from close range. Maclon Colaco had a golden chance to inflate their tally but he shot wide from close range. With time running out, Taleigao made a last ditch efforts but Vikram Balekar and Suraj Haldankar blasted wide from ideal positions. 
With this win, Guardian Angel Sports Club collected 15 points from nine matches while Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao have six points from same encounters.
At Rosary ground, Navelim, a fine brace Auelon Gomes helped United Club of Telaulim (UCT) came from behind to defeat Panjim Footballers 5-2 after trailing 2-1 at half time.
Panjim Footballers started the game on an attacking mode and took the lead in the 16th minute when striker Charlton Pereira slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
Stung by the setback, UC Telaulim regrouped quickly and took the fight to the rival camp and neutralized in the 20th minute when Andrew Colaco punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
Stunned by the equalizer, Panjim Footballers attacked the rival goal and they were rewarded in the 35th minute when Sujay Hamron.
Crossing over, UC of Telaulim put up a better display with their forwards and midfielders working in tandem to put the rival defence under tremendous pressure.
Auelon Gomes equalized in the 66th minute that helped Taleualim lads to pile pressure on the rival citadel and soon, Auelon struck second time to complete his brace.
Earlier, Sandy Colaco made it 3-2 in favour of winners in the 64th minute while Sunny Rodrigues drove the last nail into rival coffin in the 76th minute. With this win, UC Telalulim took their tally to 17 points from nine matches.
At DYSA ground, Curtorim, a second half strike by striker Milagres Fernandes enabled Curtorim Gymkhana edge past Penha de Franca Sports Club 1-0.
With this win, Curtorim Gymkhana continued to enjoy the dream run and have 25 points from nine matches and remain on top of the league table.
At 3MTR ground, Corps of Signals blanked Goa Police 2-0 after leading 1-0 at half time .Corps of Signals dominated the game and their forwards muffed umpteen scoring chances with Roshan Singh, Topo and Solomon frittered away sitters.
Corps of Signals broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when Thinzam Singh was brought down by rival defender inside the rival penalty box and referee with out any hesitation awarded the dreaded spot.
Kuldeep Singh converted the resultant spot kick to send the rival goalkeeper in wrong way. Solomon scored the insurance goal in the 65th minute to troop out worthy winners. With this win, Corps of Signals have 13 points from eight matches.
