RAIA: Guirdolim Club defeated Rossman Cruz Nagoa-Verna, 2-1, and lifted the UCT Trophy organised by United Club of Telaulim played at Govt Primary School ground, Telaulim, on Sunday.
Guirdolim netted two quick goals through Valentino Carvalho and Joaquim Carvalho in the 19th and 33rd minute, respectively, while Noel D’Cruz pulled a goal back for Rossman in the 55th minutes.
Winners were richer by Rs 50,000 plus trophy while the runners up had to settle for Rs 40,000 plus trophy.
Noel D’Silva of Rossman Cruz Nagoa-Verna was awarded best midfielder of the tournament while Joaquim Carvalho of Guirdolim club was declared best player of the tournament.
Churchill Alemao ex-chief minister and ex-MP was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners up in the presence of Fr Valentine Alvares, Chaplin, Our Lady of My Carmel, Telaulim, Edwin Cardozo (Cipru), ZP member, Navelim, Aleixo da Costa, State Nodal officer Lok Saba elections and other dignitaries and club officials.
