PANJIM: A 90th minute strike from Aaron Estibiero enabled Guirdolim Club to a deserving 2-1 win over Tilamola United Sports Club in the Goa Football Association Third Division League match played at Chandor Church ground, on Wednesday.
Guirdolim Club started the match on the front foot and took the lead through Irfan Yadnad in the 16th minute.
Down by a goal,Tilamola United attacked in numbers and almost kept their rival defence on their toes for the major portion of the game. Tilamola United were finally on level term in the 39th minute when Melwin Carvalho slotted home from close range. The teams were tied 1-1 at the break.
The second half was more of a midfield battle as both sides tried to keep possession to build up play. Just when the match looked to end on level terms. Aaron scored for Guirdolim against the run of play to hand them three vital points.
At the artificial turf ground, St Sebastiao Youth Club and Margao Sports Club played out a 1-1 draw.
Vellino Barreto gave St Sebastiao the lead in the 24th minute before Savio Nornoha levelled terms in the 74th minute.
In another match, United Club of Benaulim were thrashed by United Sports Club Seraulim 1-4.
The first half-hour saw hardly any action before Flescio Fernandes gave United Sports Club of Seraulim a well deserved lead. Seraulim lead 1-0 at the breather.
Changing ends, Benaulim side were on level terms through Livingston Pereira who netted in the 46th minute.
However, Seraulim slammed in three more goals as Oliver D’Souza netted a brace while Sherwin Costa scored the other.
Kelbai Sports Club thumped FC Sanquelim 5-2, at Bicholim ground.
Rajesh Paryekar and Gaurav Gosavi scored a brace each for the winners. Kavish scored the fifth.
Vishal G and Pravin Kanikar were on the scoresheet for the losing side.
Meanwhile at Chapora ground, Siolim Sodiem SCA scored a deserving 4-2 win over Peddem Bomm SC.
After a barren opening minutes Marshall Fernandes took Siolim ahead in the match with a fine placement shot in the 28th minute. Siolim lead 1-0 at the break.
Changing ends, two quick goals from Kalpesh Gadekar took Peddem Bomm ahead in the match.
Siolim side were determined and pressed hard to find the equaliser and finally managed to do so through Sardar Nadab in the 65th minute.
Once on level terms, Siolim dictated terms and scored two more goals through Anselm D’Souza and Sardar, who completed his brace in the 90th minute.
Maharuda SCC were debarred from the GFA Third Division League after giving two walkovers in the league phase.
