RAIA: Guirdolim Club outplayed Nerul Sports Club, 5-2, to enter the semifinal of the UCT Trophy inter-village football tournament, organised by United Club of Telaulim and played at Government School ground, Telaulim, on Tuesday.
Nerul took the early lead in the game when Aniket Naik powerful 30 yard shoot from the top of box popped into the net in the 5th minutes of the game. Later, Anand and Deu missed two open chances to score for Nerul before half time.
Changing over Guirdolim regrouped and attacked Nerul defence and scored five goals through Sildon Peixeto in the 47th, 49th, 56th, 68th and 74th minute and outplayed Nerul in all departments, while Anand of Nerul pulled one goal back in the dying minutes of the game.
Sildon Peixeto of Guirdolim received the man-of-the-match trophy at the hand of Roy Barreto, executive member of UCT.
