POVASAO-CURTORIM: Guirdolim Club defeated Wilred Leisure Sports Club, Curtorim 1-0 and advanced through to the semi- finals of the 12th Wilred Leisure Cup, at Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs ground, Curtorim on Thursday.
Louie Noronha scored the only goal that separated the two sides. Guirdolim’s Louie Noronha was the star of the match with his brilliant technique on and off the ball. Guirdolim played like a well oiled machine giving the rival camp a hard day at the field.
In the second-half, Jackson Sequeira, the coach of Wilred Leisure Curtorim instructed Benson to control the midfield as well as make attacking run.
Benson should have converted in the 46th and 50th minutes but on both occasions he squandered the chances. Thereafter, Curtorim’s Benson displayed brilliant diagonal passes in the open space keeping the rival defence on the back foot. Both teams tried to hoodwink each other to gain ball possession but Guirdolim’s Louie Noronha scored the all-important goal in the dying stages of the match.
